Starting Thursday February 9th, The Bog will open from 11am to 5pm Monday-Thursday as a commuter lounge in addition to its regular Thursday-Friday 5pm-1am schedule. Commuter student needs were the primary motivation for this initiative but all students are welcome and encouraged to take advantage of these new hours.
On Saturday September 25, the women’s varsity soccer team battled the Davenport University Panthers to overtime and recorded their first tie of the season. The Lady Hawks put on an impressive display of perseverance on Illinois Tech turf despite the surprisingly cold weather, and a few debatable calls by the referee. Students, parents, alumni and staff packed the stands and sidelines of Stuart Field for the double-billed Homecoming and Senior Day game.
For fifteen years, Vickie Tolbert has been an administrative asset to IIT through her initial work in the then-singular office of Student Health and Counseling Services and more recently as the Administration and Operations Manager in the Dean of Students Office (Student Affairs), as well as the campus Ombudsperson.

On Friday, Chris Dayss walked out of the MTCC for the last time carrying a small refrigerator against his chest and saying goodbye to anyone still working away in the student organization offices.
In a mere 11 months as the Student Events and Bog Coordinator, Dayss helped develop the Bog from a forgotten space in the Hermann Hall basement into the heart of the campus social scene. Yet Dayss’s next adventure not only takes him beyond the edge of campus and out of Chicago city limits, but across the pond to London where his partner recently accepted a promotion.
On Sunday August 29 at 11:00 p.m., the Night Owl Computer Lab kicked off the fall semester with a new location in the lower level of Galvin Library. In an e-mail to students last week, the Office of Technology Services (OTS) announced the Night Owl Lab’s move. Previously located in the Commons, the overnight lab will continue to offer “overnight access to computers and academic software, as well as scanners, black and white, and color printers.”
The Idea Shop, the latest gem on the Illinois Tech campus, opened its doors with the start of the Fall semester. Tucked away in the lower level of the Technology Business Center, the 13,000 square foot facility will be a place for students to foster ideas from inception to implementation. Naturally the Idea Shop will also house the Interprofessional Projects Program.
