The Best Uses of Twitter's New Character Limit So Far

As many already know, at the end of last month Twitter announced an interesting move in planning to double the character limit on tweets from 140 to 280. Only a handful of accounts were given the privilege, and a larger rollout is expected to happen soon, granting more this power. There’s a lot that can be done with all of this extra tweet space, and there’s a lot of speculation over whether this is a good or a bad thing.

In the past few weeks, anyone who has walked down the sidewalk parallel to the green line, on the East side of SSV, has surely seen a bird carcass or two on the ground. While you may have developed conspiracies regarding campus poachers, trains killing the birds, or even this being a sign of the apocalypse, I’m here to tell you that none of these things are killing the birds. The answer to this question is windows, and the birds themselves are a bit at fault too. According to the American Bird Conservancy (ABC), up to one billion birds are killed in the U.S.

Last week Bungie and Activision released the highly anticipated sequel to their first-person shooter Destiny. Having had a taste of the game by playing the beta earlier in the year, I knew the mechanics of the game were going to be pretty similar to its predecessor and that, with now having to carry one kinetic weapon, the gear and weapon systems were going to also be generally unchanged.

2017 was a big year for Riot Fest, especially with such big names as Nine Inch Nails, Queens of the Stone Age, and Jawbreaker headlining. As an attendee of the annual punk/metal/alternative/anything that's loud music festival, I had high hopes for a quite of few of the acts. What I got between September 15 and 17 was an amazing array of diversely talented acts bringing a lot of energy to the people there. I decided it was only right that I highlight my five favorite acts, commending them for the shows they put on.
