Apple announced its Apple One service bundle during the Time Flies event in September, 2020. It combines all of Apple’s services in three bundles.
Individual ($14.95 per month) - Includes Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and 50GB of iCloud storage.
Family ($19.95 per month) - Includes Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and 200GB of iCloud storage, and with the ability to share these services between a family of up to 6 members.
Premier ($29.95 per month) - Includes Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, Apple News+, Fitness+, and 2TB of iCloud storage, and with the ability to share these services between a family of up to 6 members.
According to Apple, each of the three plans offers big monthly savings with the cheapest Individual plan cutting $6 per month off the total, compared to buying each of the four included services separately. The Family plan saves $8 per month, and the Premier plan saves $25.
So yes, Apple One saves you money if you were planning on subscribing to those services anyway- but there’s not much room for customization. If you’re someone who wants the latest Fitness+ and News+ but would never in decades need 2TB of storage, you’re stuck paying for the Premier Plan.
When Apple launched Apple One, Spotify’s shares dropped by 2%. Spotify is skeptical that it might lose many of its customers to Apple One considering the great overall deal. Currently, Spotify’s Premium costs $9.99/month for individual and $14.99/month for a family of up to 6 members. Comparing AppleOne and Spotify, Apple One appears to be a better deal for most people considering you get bundle services such as television, video games, and iCould storage. If you are in the Apple ecosystem, then Apple One is the way to go.
What Apple is attempting to do is sort of forming its own ecosystem, like what Amazon Prime has done, where they become a one-stop-shop for everything. The last thing Apple One needs right now is more options to choose from, like picking your own plans which makes it a lot more flexible and draws more customers. These bundle services actually make it simple to manage all your services and most importantly save some bucks.
