Diwali is one of the main Hindu festivals. It is also known as the Festival of Light. It symbolizes the victory of light over darkness. It is celebrated on Karthika month of the Hindu calendar, which falls between mid-October and mid-November. The celebration starts by offering pooja (prayer) to the goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of health, wealth, and prosperity. Food and sweets are distributed to friends and family.
This year the Vedic Vision Society of Chicago has hosted a Diwali party on October 27, 2019 at Wishnick Hall on the main campus. It was a beautiful night loaded with traditionally dressed students, festive food, and sweets. Below are some of the photos from the event.
