This is one of the easiest and fastest dishes to make when you are craving something sweet.
2 cups whole wheat flour
1.5 cup water
1 cup sugar
2 tsp cardamom powder
Pinch of salt
1 bowl ghee or butter (Don’t use oil, it won’t taste the same)
Mix everything, except the ghee/butter, in a big bowl
Add the water slowly and if needed adjust the quantity to prepare a semi liquid consistency batter.
Make sure that the batter is not too flowy otherwise it will be very difficult to handle it while cooking.
Set the batter aside for about half to one hour to combine well.
Now, use a deep non-stick frying pan and add 2 tbsp ghee/butter to it. Pour in one and half ladle batter and spread it evenly. Usually, the first one doesn’t come out as well but as the pan starts getting hotter, they take good shape.
After you see that it is well cooked from the bottom and changed to a darker color, flip to the other side. You can let it toast for a longer duration and spread the batter to a very thin layer if you would like it to be crisp. You can add some more ghee once you flip for a buttery flavor.
Once you see that both sides have cooked evenly, take it off the flame and enjoy. You can try it with some mango pickle if you like sweet and sour taste.
Note: Sugar, salt and ghee/butter can be adjusted as per taste.
