So, it has been a long time since there has been a coffee club article out; our older patrons probably know what this is about, but it is a new semester, so let's recap for our freshmen. The Chicago Coffee Club is one of IIT’s first unofficial clubs, which just means all the same fun, minus the paperwork (oh, and unfortunately, you pay for your own drinks since the SAF can only fund official registered organizations).

So Coffee Club is, for the most part, just a group of people that meet every weekend either on a Saturday or a Sunday to go to new coffee shops in and around Chicago. It meets outside of the bookstore at around 10:30 in the morning and takes the Green Line or the Red Line (depending on where the coffee shop is). It’s great way to meet new people, as well as see Chicago and find your way around. In the past, the club has been to places like the Wormhole, Intelligentsia, Noble Tree, among others, all of which are amazing places to visit around Chicago. Started by Kelly Lohr (currently a junior) in her sophomore year at IIT, Coffee Club was born because she just wanted to get a group together to give her an opportunity to fuel her coffee addiction while making new friends. Of course, now even people who hate coffee go on the trips, and get tea or sandwiches or whatever it is they fancy.

This weekend, the Chicago Coffee Club will be going to Senem’s Coffee at Lakeview, which promises to be a great adventure! It will be meeting up at 11 a.m. outside the bookstore, so just show up! You are sure to make some great friends and get some great coffee (or tea!). What better way is there to start a Saturday?
