Premier League Review: Arsenal, Ham separated by 1 point

The Premier League had its seventh week of matches two weekends ago. Manchester City had a dominant 3-0 win over Sunderland to remain in the top three of the table. Goals came from Aleksandar Kolarov, Sergio Aguero, and James Milner. City now sits tied with United with 15 points, while Sunderland drops the points and stays at seven on the season.
Norwich City jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead over Chelsea with a goal from Grant Holt, but Fernando Torres responded three minutes later. From there it was all Chelsea as they saw goals from Frank Lampard, Eden Hazard, and Branislav Ivanovic for a 4-1 win. Chelsea remains the point leader with 19 points, while Norwich is still in the bottom three with three points.
Reading looked to be on the road to its first premier league win with a 2-0 lead over Swansea City at halftime. However, Swansea got two late goals for a 2-2 draw to salvage a point. Reading got goals from Noel Hunt and Pavel Pogrebnyak. Swansea City got its goals from Michu and Wayne Routledge.  Swansea now is in the middle of the table with eight points while Reading gains a point but is still in the bottom three with three points.
West Bromwich Albion got a big three points in a 3-2 victory over Queens Park Rangers. West Brom got its goals from James Morrison, Zoltan Gera, and Youssuf Mulumbu while QPR saw goals from Adel Taarabt and Esteban Granero. West Brom continues a strong performance in this campaign with 14 points just outside the top three, but QPR continues to struggle at the bottom of the table with two points.
Wigan Athletic and Everton drew at 2-2 after a late Everton penalty secured the points. Wigan got goals from Arouna Kone and Franco Di Santo and Everton got goals from Nikica Jelavic and Leighton Baines. Everton has 14 points now on the season while Wigan has 5 points after the draw, which may end up being a big point in the relegation race. West Ham United jumped out to a 1-0 lead over Arsenal. Arsenal scored three unanswered goals to win 3-1. West Ham’s goals came from Mohamed Diame and Arsenal got goals from Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott, and Santi Carzola. The two sides are separated by just one point with Arsenal having 12 so far and West Ham with 11 points on the season.
Southampton pulled itself out of the bottom three with a 2-2 draw with Fulham. Jose Fonte had two goals for Southampton while Jos Hooiveld and Kieran Richardson scored for Fulham. Southampton now has four points on the year while Fulham has 10 points so far. Liverpool and Stoke ended in a 0-0 draw with many Liverpool shots coming agonizingly off the posts. Liverpool has six points now while Stoke sits above them with eight points.
Tottenham Hotspurs defeated Aston Villa in a 2-0 win with goals from Steven Caulker and Aaron Lennon. The Spurs now are playing with high quality and have 12 points while Aston Villa continues its struggles with just a few points. Manchester United kept pace with the other top teams in a 3-0 result over Newcastle. Goals came from Johnny Evans, Patrice Evra, and Tom Cleverly. Newcastle now has nine points while United has 15 points.
No Premier League soccer was played over the weekend due to the international break for World Cup qualification matches.
