    With another school semester almost at an end, I stopped by the Sports department on Friday afternoon to speak to the head of Intramurals and Recreations, Jason Neal, to find out how successful he felt his departments programs had been this semester, and to see what classes he plans to offer students and faculty in the spring.

    In the last century, numerous scientific and engineering achievements have shaped our day to day lives. Among them, the use of electrical energy has had a profound and deep impact on our regular activities. However, our generation currently faces a looming global energy crisis. We as individuals can no longer remain isolated from social challenges like the depletion of nonrenewable resources, the increasing fuel price and consumer demand, and the environmental impact of greenhouse gas emissions.

  • IIT’s own marathon participants: winners in their own right

    The Annual Bank of America Chicago Marathon, held every fall, passes right through Main Campus and attracts some of the world’s fastest runners on Chicago’s flat and fast course. Students on campus last Sunday likely didn’t miss the thousands of runners that made their way through mile 23 on South State Street. As usual, this year IIT had representation from friends and colleagues of the university.

  • Men’s Soccer remain at .500

    After a disappointing 1-0 opening day defeat to Grand View College was followed up by a return to a .500 record with a convincing 7-0 win over Missouri Baptist, the Hawks hoped that their next four games would give the team a chance to improve to a winning record. However, playing two teams ranked in the top 25 in the nation in those games, they were well aware of the challenge that lay ahead.
