Smart Farming is a concept that stresses on the utilization of information and communication technologies in the farm management process. It is expected that new technologies such as the Internet of Things and cloud computing will harness this growth and implement robotics and artificial intelligence in farming. This is endorsed by the Big Data phenomenon, massive volumes of data with a wide variety that can be captured, evaluated and used to make judgments. This evaluation is intended to gain insight into the state-of-the-art of Big Data programs in Smart Farming and define the related socio-economic challenges that need to be tackled.

Last issue dated September 15, 2020 we started with the cloud computing article, so in continuation of the series, we will be taking about software-as-a-service (SaaS) in this issue and we will be talking about other use cases of cloud computing in the upcoming articles. So what is SaaS? In laymen terms, SaaS is a software delivery model, where a lease or a license fee is charged to consumers per month and a non-contractor, normally the software provider, makes the program over the Internet accessible. As well as infrastructure-as-service (Iaas) and platform-as-a-service (PaaS), SaaS is one of the major commercial implementations of cloud computing. In SaaS the user depends on the software provider to allow access to the application over the website, hosting and managing on his own computer instead of buying a hard copy of an app and downloading it on a local server. When a customer buys a SaaS-software tool, it is normally the provider who hosts and promotes access to the program, but this is not the only way. There are also application service providers (ASPs) which benefit from data center management and host applications for their own customer networks.

It is fascinating how only very few elements in life keep living forever. One such beautiful element we all love and cherish is music. Music has enormous power to influence our moods irrespective of our ages, gender, etc. It has a unique style that can move anyone in this world. I often wonder how listening to a song for just ten seconds can drastically change my mood for the rest of the day. It is even proved as a renowned therapy to lower heart and blood pressure to leave us relaxed. Among the music composed using several instruments, what stands out is the voice of the singer that amplifies the beauty of the song. No matter how many new songs and singer comes, we still are a fan of classics we grew up listening to in our childhood. I am such a hardcore fan of a melodious voice owned by an Indian singer SPB.

Smart farming (SF), focused on the integration of information and communication technology into machines, equipment and sensors of farming systems, enables the generation of a large volume of data and information with the increasing introduction of automation into the process. Smart farming depends on data transfer and data consolidation in remote storage facilities so that various farm data can be compiled and interpreted for decision-making. Telematics involves precision farming solutions by automating decisions or actions at a distance. The basic concept behind precision farming is that instead of manually applying seeds and fertilizers evenly in the fields, the farms should be cautiously mapped using proper soil sensor machinery and this smart machinery would spread seeds and fertilizers evenly based on soil characteristics like humidity, nitrogen concentrations, organic matter content, etc.

One of the biggest questions after the Ace Attorney Trilogy ended was figuring out which direction Capcom was going to take the Ace Attorney series. After all, “Trials and Tribulations” was considered “the end” and every storyline managed to wrap up nicely. As such, series creator Shu Takumi decided to “soft reboot” the series - meaning that while the events of the previous three games did indeed happen in continuity, they have little to do with the plot at hand.

The Illinois Institute of Technology’s COVID-19 data presentation and communication has left the student body disappointed, despite the fact that the limited data released paints an optimistic picture. A test of 143 randomly selected on-campus students, faculty, and staff on Monday, September 21, 2020 revealed only one positive test result for a reported positivity rate of 0.70%. The data suggests that no secret on-campus outbreak of COVID-19 exists, so why is the university administration operating with such a low level of transparency as if it has something to hide?

I always tell myself “Focus on your work as if the world around you didn’t exist!” But why do I have to ignore the world around me to remain focused? To answer this question, one day I asked myself a question: “Why I am not able to focus on my work?” I was shocked when I realized the reason behind it! And the reason was "me and only me!"
