War is a funny thing

Men in uniforms and combat boots

Heavy machinery, tanks, and young fools

But no one seems to be able to see

The mothers left cradling

Their lifeless newborns

Or the children left broken and orphaned

We see numbers and statistics,

We see wins and losses

But what about the lives of innocents

That are conveniently forgotten?

Money, oil, and power

Does there exist

Not a single shred of humanity?

Running through villages with guns blazing

And bullets ricocheting

Its comical to see,

That not one of these innocent fools

Can recite the reasons

For the army occupancy

Women left violated in their own homes,

And young men brainwashed into blood and gore

With their hearts and minds turned to stone

What is war to them

Than an obliteration

Of everything they have ever known and loved?
