In a tranquil clearing of a forest, soft warm winds tickle your skin while the scent of your favorite food dances across your nose. A subtle hum, an early memory of your parents rocking you to sleep.
In an instant it’s all ripped away.
You are hit with a weight: exams, work, long-shifts and a paper of exponentially compounding page requirement. Each item its own curse on your soul, that will make its way to your lips. Each item bogging down your mind into the muck of your worried mental state.
You’re drowning further and further into a pond of uncertainty. Only you can truly pull yourself out. The first step is finding some ground to stand on. That’s where we’re here to offer support.
In conjunction with IIT Recreation Sports and Fitness, SGA is sponsoring The Stress Management Series: a Stress Management Workshop.
Five classes all coordinated to bring you some additional tools to battle your stress, using yoga and meditation. All instructed by Mackinzie Fye, Psy.D, RYT throughout the month of November.
The cost of admission is $10 for the five classes, however if you attend at least 4 of the 5 classes you will get your money back (incentive for you to at least attempt to go to every lesson).
If you can’t make the classes that’s okay, there are always the other stress relieving events coming up in the near future, conveniently around finals week. Just try to take care of yourself. Get some sleep, socialization and sunlight in your life. From one tortured soul to another, it’s not a “cure” but it helps relieve the pain.
The dates are November 6th, 7th, 12th, 13th and 21st. All in the MTCC Ballroom from 8pm to 9pm.
Hope to see you there.
