Keeping up with VanderCook: love and appreciation

Is the second semester completely stressing you out? Wondering if there is anything else the college campus has to offer? Looking to fill that desire in your life for a well prepared artistic performance? You probably said no to all those questions, but you gotta fill up a word count somehow. Either way, our neighboring school, VanderCook College of Music, has you covered. There are some wonderful events coming up later in the week that are well worth your time.

Valentine’s Day is coming up soon, and if you need a nice date idea to woo your sweetheart, VanderCook will be hosting a romantic Valentine’s Day concert. The concert is on February 14, at 7:30 p.m. in VanderCook’s Quinlan Hall, 3125 S. Federal St., with a reception to follow the performance. The featured performers are Dr. Tsai, one of VanderCook’s piano instructors, and Mr. Lui, the violin instructor. The performance is free, but they would still like to know how big of an audience will turn up. You will need to RSVP online at http://YangAndOliviaAtVCM.eventbrite.com to ensure a spot at the concert. Your significant other deserves the best, and this concert will be sure to give them a performance like no other.

Many a successful music educator has graduated from VanderCook. On Sunday, February 17, at 3:00 p.m. in Quinlan Hall, 3125 S. Federal St., VanderCook will be holding an Alumni Appreciation Concert to honor the talented musicians that have graduated on to guide and educate musical students everywhere. The concert is free, and there will be a reception afterward. The concert features the current VanderCook student body and showcases all the time and effort that they have put into their life’s work. If you have ever been curious about what these students are capable of, this concert would give you the chance to experience it firsthand.

VanderCook turns out well-learned musicians all the time, but their time and effort is meaningless unless there is audience to witness the fruits of their labor. Support the arts and the next generation of music educators today by attending these sure to be wonderful performances. Also keep a look out in the future for more concerts, performances, and events hosted by VanderCook College of Music.
